About Me

Hi, I’m Dr. Angela Hu.

I’m a psychiatrist specializing in tailored medication management and nuanced psychotherapy. My goal is to help guide clients with clarity and warmth towards well-being - physical, psychological, and emotional - so that they can live life fully as their authentic selves.

I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Society. My early interest in how biological and societal factors influence health and human behavior led me to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree at Boston University School of Medicine, and subsequently, a Psychiatry Residency at the University of California, Irvine.

Before becoming a psychiatrist, I had always been drawn to creativity, introspection, and the unseen connections that shape our inner worlds.

Life-long practices of art-journaling and meditation have allowed me to cultivate a deep appreciation for the non-linear, intuitive aspects of healing. I tap into these qualities when helping patients navigate life’s complexities by integrating diverse therapeutic methods, from mindfulness and depth-oriented therapy to neurodivergent-affirming care and expressive arts.

Outside of work, I’m an avid artist/sketcher, birdwatcher, and practitioner of yoga and meditation. (Two of my art pieces are shown here).

I also have an equal parts shy, sweet, and stubborn Border Collie/Aussie Mix named Ginger.

Living authentically and fully—with ease and inner peace—is a personal goal of mine and something I hope to help others achieve. Healing is not about becoming someone new but rather coming home to yourself— with greater self-acceptance, clarity, and freedom.
